Carat

Carat weight refers to how much a diamond weighs. Price typically will increase based on carat weight due to the rarity of higher carat weights in diamonds. However, two diamonds of equal carat weight can have separate prices. This is due to the other factors (cut, clarity and color) included in the grading and evaluation of a stone.

Clarity

Clarity refers to the number, size, nature and position of internal characteristics within your stone, commonly referred to as “inclusions.” While few diamonds are perfectly pure from inclusions, it is important for us to evaluate each stone together and to determine the level of purity that is right for you.

Color

Color refers to the absence of color from a diamond. Color ratings are determined by evaluating the stone under controlled lighting and conditions. While these ratings can impact the diamond’s value, the variations are incredibly subtle and can even be invisible to the naked eye. It is important to consider skin tone and budget when looking at color ratings.

Cut

The cut of a diamond can refer to both the shape of the stone as well as how well the stone facets interact with light. While different shapes interact with light in unique ways, precise craftsmanship is required in cutting the facets of the stone to best interact with light. When we evaluate a stone’s cut, we look for brightness, fire and scintillation within the stone.

Lusso Diamonds

Natural

Truly a miracle of nature, natural diamonds are a solid form of carbon formed by billions of years of pressure and heat from the earth’s mantle. Incredibly rare and breathtaking to behold, no two natural diamonds are identical, due to their natural formation. All natural Lusso diamonds are GIA certified and adhere to the Kimberly Process, ensuring that their creation lifts up, employs and elevates the communities that mine them.

Reclaimed

An increasingly popular option within bespoke, fine jewelry is to reclaim stones from existing jewelry pieces and incorporate them into fresh and modern pieces. As with most precious and natural resources, this process honors not only the environmental impact of natural and lab grown diamonds, but also honors the emotional connection we all have to heirloom pieces past down generation to generation.

Lab

Recently, lab grown diamonds have made major waves in the industry and world at large. Physically identical to natural diamonds, lab grown diamonds are no longer the pale imitation they once were. While the after-market value of these stones has yet to be determined, I cannot deny their cultural impact and importance to the world of today.
